Holding hands

Relationships are hard, right? Well it does seem so for most of us but they don't have to be. Even better news is that the opportunity for growth through relationship is tremendous. Learning to be your authentic self and connect deeply with another is possibly the best thing on the planet! But here's the deal: In order to achieve this you have to learn how to manage your emotions and to understand yourself and your significant other. No easy task and most of us don't acquire the tools we need without some expert guidance.

Whether in individual or couples therapy I help clients understand and change the behaviors and patterns that aren't working for them. I teach communication skills, conflict resolution and empathy. Basically I help you learn to deal effectively with conflicts and to increase your capacity for loving, intimate connection.

These are some of the relationship gurus I have trained with:
   David Schnarch
   Terrence Real
   Michelle Weiner-Davis
   Sue Johnson
   John Gottman
   Stan Tatkin
   Byron Katie

I also utilize the Enneagram, a system of knowledge for understanding different personality styles, or Enneatypes. Identifying and learning about your own and your partner's Enneatype can create deeper self-awareness, greater compassion for yourself, and dramatically increase your sensitivity to others. I have been using the Enneagram for over 15 years and it continues to be one of the best tools for navigating relationships.

P.S. These skills also apply to co-workers, family members, and noisy neighbors!

“to be fully seen by somebody... and be loved anyhow - this is a human offering that can border on miraculous”
